The name ‘Schwinn’ has been associated with cycling products for over 125 years. Their ability to produce some of the best bikes on the market shows no sign of waning, especially when you check out their S29 Mountain Bike and see some of its top features.

Schwinn S29 Men’s Mountain Bike

As already mentioned, Schwinn has one of the longest traditions for making quality bikes. Their history of manufacturing some of the best bicycles that have ever been made is impressive.

Their number of bike models is also notable. They currently make over 100 different bikes suitable for all uses and age groups.

This bike is part of their mountain bike collection, which varies between a dozen and 20 models at any one time.

The Schwinn S29 was first sold in 2019, and it has proved to be highly popular among mountain bikers who have given it high ratings since it was launched.

Who is This Product For?

With a frame height of 18 inches, this mountain bike was not designed for children. It is for adults and would most suit those between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet 2 inches.

The features of the S29, such as the dual suspension, will make those who want as comfortable a ride as possible over rough terrain happy.

What’s Included?

The bike comes semi-assembled; the frame will have the back wheel already attached.  You will find the various units that form the bike inside the packaging.

Other components are the handlebar unit, the front wheel, the seat, the pedals, and an assembly manual. Note that no tools are included, so you will need them.

Overview of Features

The S29 has an aluminum frame that will be strong enough to cope with the rigors of mountain biking while at the same time being lightweight, so it is not burdensome.

A disc brake system on both the front and back wheels gives you the reassurance that no matter how quickly you need to stop, the bike will do so, regardless of the conditions.

The brakes also enable riders to have full control over their descent speeds.

Obviously, the suspension is critical given that the bike will be ridden on uneven surfaces; it plays a part in protecting your arm joints from those impacts. The S29 has shocks in the back and the front of the bike for the optimum suspension level.

As for the gears, these have an SRAM shifter with 21 speeds, providing you with options regardless of whether you are climbing a steep hill or accelerating along a flat surface.

Finally, we come to the tires, which have excellent tread, a 29-inch diameter, and a width of 2.1 inches. They should provide riders with optimal grip and stability.

How to Use It

The S29 comes semi-assembled. That means that the mainframe and the back wheel are assembled, but you will have to attach the front wheel, handlebars, seat, and pedals.

All instructions for assembly can be found in the owner’s instructions and assembly manuals.

You will need a few small hand tools to facilitate the assembly: a pair of pliers, an adjustable wrench, assorted Allen keys, and a Phillips head screwdriver.

We advise you to follow the instructions carefully and ensure that everything is secure before riding the bike.

It should go without saying that you should wear the appropriate safety equipment, especially a cycling safety helmet.

Merax Mountain Bike

If you like most of the features of the S29 but want a mountain that is a little bit more compact, for example, with smaller wheels, the Merax FT323 Mountain Bike might appeal to you.

As with the S29, the Merax has 21 gear speeds, twin suspension, and a 17-inch frame. However, its wheels are 26 inches in diameter rather than 29 inches, so it provides a greater degree of agility – just what you need when maneuvering over rocky ground and rough terrain.

The Schwinn S29 is a great mountain bike, with a braking system that makes it even safer and dual suspension, which is precisely what is needed when riding up, down, and around hills and mountains.
